COLONEL BATH’S COUNSEL SAID THE HIGH COURT FOUND THE CHANDIGARH S.LT.S PROBE INTO THE ASSAULT CASE ‘TAINTED’

- Surender Sharma

The bench of justice Rajesh Bhardwaj questioned the probe into the assault — which allegedly took place over a parking dispute — by the special investigation team (SIT) of Chandigarh Police, saying, “The special investigation team (of the police) is creating loopholes to give benefit of doubt to the accused officers.”

Following Wednesday's hearing, Pushpinder Singh Ahluwalia, the counsel representing Colonel Bath, said the court found the police's investigation into the case “tainted”. “Hence, it decided to transfer the case to the CBI,” he said. A detailed order is awaited.
