Boatmen turn storytellers, safety guides in tourism push

In a novel initiative to boost river tourism and empower local communities, the Uttar Pradesh government is training traditional boatmen along the Ganga to become storytellers, safety marshals, and cultural ambassadors.

The training, conducted by Manyawar Kanshiram Institute of Tourism Management (MKITM), is underway in Chunar and Mirzapur. Boatmen are being equipped with lifesaving skills by the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and learning modules
