Amid Indo-Pak tension IPL 2025 suspended, promises resumption

If IPL does not resume soon, efforts will be made to find a separate window later in the year
MUMBAI: The ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) was suspended on Friday with immediate effect for a week in wake of heightened tensions between India and Pakistan following the Pahalgam terror attack.
In its statement, The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said that they would review the situation "in due course after a comprehensive assessment of the situation in consultation with relevant authorities and stakeholders".
The IPL final was scheduled for May 25. There is still room to push the tournament back by a few days. That would leave them with a possible two-week window to conclude the tournament before players get busy with international commitments in June.
But any immediate resumption in play, although it will be explored actively, would be challenging. Given the scale of international participation in the IPL that includes players, coaches, match officials, commentators; the overseas participants would wait for complete de-escalation on the frontline.
A number of franchises have confirmed that their overseas players have begun to leave the country for their respective homes or will be leaving soon.
