SHIMLA: Vice-President of India Jagdeep Dhankhar, who is on a two-day visit to Himachal Pradesh, reached Shimla on Friday.

Dhankhar was given a rousing reception upon his arrival at the Annandale helipad in Shimla on Friday. Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla and CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu extended a warm welcome to the Vice-President at the helipad. Deputy CM Mukesh Agnihotri and public works minister Vikramaditya Singh, who has been designated as the Minister-in-Waiting for the Vice-President's visit, were present on the occasion.

At Raj Bhawan, a ceremonial Guard of Honour was presented on his arrival. He will go to Dr YS Parmar Horticulture and Forestry University on Saturday.

The Vice-President came to Annandale in Shimla by helicopter from Chandigarh. From here he reached Raj Bhawan directly by road. In view of this, traffic was stopped from Annadale to Raj Bhawan via AG Chowk-CTO between 11 am and 11.45 am. During this, a long line of vehicles was formed behind Annadale towards Baluganj. HTC

BENGALURU: At 7.00 am on Wednesday, as the city was still celebrating RCB's historic IPL win, a tweet lit the fuse to a tragedy no one saw coming. The team announced a grand victory parade through the heart of Bengaluru, but even as fans erupted with joy, the city's top police officers were left scrambling.

Where is everyone?

We've been searching for decades, but haven't found so much as a microbe in space yet. Could it be that we're early; that life simply has not evolved yet in the neighbourhood? Are we doing it all wrong? Is there a bustling universe of sentient beings out there, waiting for us to catch on? Humans are now beginning to build technology that could make the difference in our quest for alien life. We have a growing understanding of what to look for. We're getting better at sending probes to nearby planets, which could tell us more about where and how to search. What might we find? Why does it matter? Take a look

MF Husain: Man and myth, art and artist

M F Husain is undoubtedly India's best known and perhaps most highly regarded modern artist. As an editorial in this newspaper put it last week, he is \"arguably the most inventive artist of Indian modernism\". This is why it's not just sad but upsetting that an MF Husain museum will open next month in Doha and not in the country of his birth.
