Nothing lasts forever, yet things keep repeating themselves. So we are back to carrot halwa. The beloved dessert re-enters the city each year with the start of winter. Here is a tale of two carrot halwas. One is found in the Millennium City. One is found in the Walled City.

Young Randeep hawks the carrot halwa in Gurugram, carrying the dish in a mobile cart attached to his bicycle. While Sheeren Bhawan in Old Delhi happens to be one of the very few mithai shops in the capital region that serves something truly rare—a carrot halwa that is not red, but white.
