Samajwadi Party lawmaker from Sambhal Ziaur Rahman Barq was booked on Thursday for alleged electricity theft at his residence in the Deepa Sarai locality in Sambhal, police said, mounting troubles for the parliamentarian who is also booked in connection with the November 24 violence in the city during a court-ordered survey of a Mughal-era mosque.
LUCKNOW:
A first information report (FIR) under Section 135 (theft of power or unauthorised use of electricity) of the Electricity Act, 2003, was registered against Barq based on a complaint from electricity department officials following an inspection at the MP's residence, police said, adding the power supply to the SP leader's house was also snapped.
"A case of power theft has been registered against MP Ziaur Rahman Barq on the complaint of electricity department officials on Thursday morning," Sambhal superintendent of police (SP) KK Bishnoi said.
