Parents Protest 'Unjustified' Fee Hike by School in Sec 49

Parents of students at St Xavier's School in Sector 49 staged a protest on Wednesday against what they termed an "unjustified and exploitative" fee hike.

GURUGRAM: Around 30 parents participated in person, with apparent "support" from over 1,000 others online, claiming that the school had raised quarterly tuition fees by 27% to 30%, allegedly violating Haryana School Education Rules.

For Classes 1 to 5, tuition fees have reportedly jumped from ₹46,000 to ₹59,500 per quarter, taking the annual total from ₹1,84,000 to ₹2,38,000—a 29.35% hike, according to documents shared by parents. In Classes 9 and 10, quarterly fees rose from ₹48,200 to ₹62,000, raising the annual fee to ₹2,48,000, a 28.63% increase. Senior secondary students now face an annual tuition fee of ₹2,58,000, up from ₹2,02,000—a 27.72% jump.

The school declined to confirm the figures, refusing to comment on the document's authenticity.
