Gurugram Will Get 100 MLD Extra Drinking Water From June: CM

Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini on Wednesday directed the irrigation department and the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) to enhance Gurugram's drinking water supply by 100 million litres per day (MLD) by the end of May — a move expected to bring major relief to residents from June.

GURUGRAM: Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini on Wednesday directed the irrigation department and the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) to enhance Gurugram's drinking water supply by 100 million litres per day (MLD) by the end of May — a move expected to bring major relief to residents from June.

Chairing GMDA's 14th meeting, Saini also called for a joint meeting of the irrigation department, GMDA, and other stakeholders to finalise the modalities for rebuilding the Gurugram Water Channel, which carries Yamuna water to the city.

Also on Wednesday, the chief minister indicated that 400 electric buses will be added to Gurugram's fleet, a government spokesperson said.

"All agenda items were approved, including a ₹3,034 crore estimated budget," said a senior GMDA official. "We've been tasked with increasing water supply by 100MLD. The new water treatment plant will help us achieve that. A meeting has also been called to plan the water channel project."
