2 Held for Killing Man, Son During Violence Over Waqf in Bengal

The West Bengal Police on Tuesday arrested two brothers for their alleged involvement in the murder of a man and his son during large-scale violence in Murshidabad district, even as security forces kept a strict vigil to prevent fresh clashes over recently enforced Waqf (Amendment) Act, officers said.

The two accused, identified as Kalu Nadab and Dildar Nadab, are residents of the same Jafrabad locality in violence-hit Samserganj block where the deceased—Harogobindo Das (72) and his son Chandan (40)—used to live, a senior police officer said, adding the latest arrests took the total number of people apprehended to 221.
