Shubman Gill in his first Test as Indian captain was handed a rather tough defeat to stomach by England, especially after India found themselves in a dominant position for most part of the five-day Test match.

NEW DELHI: The in-transition Indian team lost by five wickets in the first Test at Headingley, Leeds on Tuesday.

Not often does one see a team with five centurions lose the match but England successfully chased down 371 in the final innings to complete their second highest most successful chase. Ben Duckett's tremendous knock (149) and help from Zak Crawley (65), Joe Root (53*) and Jamie Smith (44*) ensured they romp home with relative ease.
