I-T raids house of close aide of ex-CM Rawat in land case

DEHRADUN: The Income Tax (IT) department on Tuesday raided the house of Congress leader and property dealer Rajeev Jain in connection with a land-related case, people aware of the matter said.

Jain, a close aide of former chief minister Harish Rawat, also served as his advisor.

An official from the Dehradun police, on condition of anonymity said, "The IT raided the house of the Congress leader in Chaman Vihar under Patel Nagar police station on Tuesday early morning and remained there for several hours."

Some media outlets earlier reported that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) raided the Congress leader, but the deputy director at ED's sub-zonal office in Dehradun denied the reports.

Rajeev Jain, deputy director at ED's sub-zonal office in Dehradun, said, "The raid was conducted by IT, not us."
