American nat'l held in Dehradun for possession of banned satellite phone

Dehradun police arrested an American national after a banned satellite phone was recovered from his luggage during the routine frisking by Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel at Jollygrant airport in Dehradun, a police official said.
DEHRADUN:
According to police, the American national, identified as Joshua Ivan Richardson, a resident of E Smith St, Milwaukee, had come to India on an e-tourist visa and was staying with a friend in Rishikesh.
He was passing through the security check to board a flight to Delhi around 2 pm on Sunday when the satellite phone was detected on him.
According to police, the use of satellite phones other than BSNL-provided Inmarsat Satellite handset (ISAT Phone) in India is unlawful.
