EU's €150bn defence funding plan to bar suppliers from US, EU, Turkey

A new €150 billion European Union (EU) defence funding plan will bar suppliers from the US, UK and Turkey from contracts unless their home countries sign defence pacts with Brussels, the Financial Times reported on Wednesday.
NEW DELHI:
The planned fund for capitals to spend on arms would only be open to EU defence firms and those from third countries that have entered into pacts with the bloc, according to a European Commission proposal, said the report.
It would also exclude any advanced weapons systems upon which a third country had "design authority"—restrictions on its construction or use of particular components—or control over its eventual use.
