Courts duty-bound not to let rapists go free, says Delhi HC

The Delhi high court has stressed that courts carry a solemn duty to reaffirm society's commitment that sexual crimes against children will be met with stern consequences, while upholding a trial court's conviction of a man for raping his eight-year-old neighbour.
A bench of Justice Sanjeev Narula delivered the verdict on Tuesday, dismissing the man’s appeal challenging the trial court's September 7, 2024, order that had convicted and sentenced him to 10 years in jail for the aggravated sexual assault of the girl in 2018.
