UT Startup Policy Finally Set to Take Off by Jan-End

Aimed at empowering city-based startups, the policy has been in limbo for over 6 years

CHANDIGARH: Hanging fire for over six years, the long-awaited startup policy is set to be rolled out by the UT administration by the end of January.

The administration was previously planning to launch the policy by the end of October 2024. Following a presentation by the UT industries department, the policy had received approval from UT administrator Gulab Chand Kataria on October 1.

However, the UT finance department raised some queries, which have since been settled.

Deputy commissioner Nishant Kumar Yadav, who is also the UT industries secretary, confirmed that everything had been finalized and the administration was planning to notify the policy by the end of January.

In February 2024, the central government had extended tax benefits for startups till March 2025 in the interim budget.
