Power consumers to shell out extra 47 paise/unit till March '26

Unless the state government decides to provide subsidy support to the two energy distribution companies to cover the FPPAS, the consumers will have to pay for it

CHANDIGARH: Domestic, non-domestic (commercial) and industrial electricity consumers in Haryana will continue to shell out an additional 47 paise per unit for power consumed till March 2026.

Haryana's two energy distribution companies – the Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) and Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN) have decided to persist with the existing levy of 47 paise per unit as fuel and power purchase adjustment surcharge (FPPAS) or fuel surcharge adjustment (FSA) on various categories of consumers from January 1, 2025, till March 2026.

However, consumers of the highly subsidised farm sector also known as the agricultural pump (AP) sector will continue to remain exempted from the levy. Domestic and non-domestic consumers having a monthly electricity consumption of less than 200 units will also continue to get exemption from FPPAS levy, said a DHBVN sales circular.
