BENGALURU: Karnataka home minister G Parameshwara dismissed the Bharatiya Janata Party's claims of law and order situation worsening in the state and called the allegations as "baseless." The statement comes after two high-profile bank robberies in Bidar and Mangaluru raised questions about public safety under the Congress-led government.
"The law and order situation in Karnataka is very good. Claims of frequent robberies and murders are baseless. Such incidents will not be allowed to happen," Parameshwara told reporters on Sunday.
His remarks follow the heist at the Kotekar Agricultural Service Co-operative Society branch in Ullal, Mangaluru, where an armed gang looted cash and gold worth crores on Friday morning. This was the second major robbery in Karnataka in just two days, following a similar incident in Bidar where a bank security guard was shot at and ₹93 lakh was stolen.
