Lucknow University vice chancellor Prof Alok Kumar Rai, 49, was named director-designate of the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta on Tuesday.
Rai was a professor of marketing at Faculty of Management Studies, Banaras Hindu University, in Varanasi, and has risen rapidly through academia.
