Eira, 10, takes on charity swim the same length of the Channel to honour grandad

A TEN-YEAR-OLD girl is making waves by swimming the equivalent of the English Channel all in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support after her grandad’s recovery from cancer.
Eira Munday, from Paignton, has already raised more than £700 by taking on the Swim It challenge, which involves swimming 21 miles - the same distance as the Channel.
Her goal is to reach £1,000, and she is well on her way, spurred on by the memory of her grandfather's illness.
"I wanted to raise money so I can help people like my Grandad,’ Eira said. “I knew it was a long way, but I knew that I could do it.”
The idea came about after Eira’s mum, Kay Munday, saw the Swim It campaign online.
