HELLO, and welcome to Thought for the Week. Have you heard of Jonah?
Some people say a whale ate him. The bible says: “Now the LORD had prepared a great fish to swallow Jonah.” (Jonah 1:17) One English translation says “whale,” but the original Hebrew word means “fish.”
Why was Jonah in the sea to be swallowed by the fish? He’d been told by God to go to Nineveh to teach the people about God.
Jonah tried hard to avoid obeying God. He boarded a ship going to Tarshish, completely the opposite direction to Nineveh. We can’t thwart God, neither could Jonah! What happened next?
