A footballer and another man have each been ordered to pay the victim of a brutal assault more than £1000 in compensation.

Semi-professional player Luke Lickrish and Ethan King attacked a man at a taxi rank in Hamilton’s Keith Street.

Hamilton Sheriff Court heard that the 30-year-old victim suffered a broken cheekbone and other facial injuries.

Lickrish, 20, of Tweedsmuir Park, and King, 19, of Whitecraig Crescent, both Hamilton, admitted assaulting him to his severe injury on August 20, 2023.

The pair and other males, who have not been identified, joined in the attack after another person had punched the man.
