Danger concern sparks street closure

Vital assessments are being carried out at a prominent listed building in Hamilton town centre after “concerns were raised about the integrity of the structure”.

The former Vogue cinema on Keith Street has been fenced off and a temporary footpath has been created and the nearby bus stop relocated elsewhere following emergency action on Thursday evening.

A B-listed building, it has been derelict for nearly three decades, and is now behind barriers bearing “keep out” signs warning of an “unsafe area”.
