Creep caught in police sting trying to buy teenage escort

A man looking to pay for a schoolgirl escort service was caught in an undercover police sting.

Jason Neil, 53, has now been put on the sex offenders’ register and warned he could be sent to prison.

He admitted offering to pay for sexual services from girls aged 14 and 15.

Hamilton Sheriff Court heard that Neil, of Carmichael Way, Law, twice failed to show at arranged meeting places in Motherwell.

He claimed that when he realised the ages of the ‘girls’ being offered he wanted to report the matter to the police.

Sinead Corrigan, prosecuting, said Operation Overview was set up by Police Scotland as part of its response to online child abuse and exploitation.
