Women to lead AMMA for first time

In a historic first, two women have been elected to lead the Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA, in one of the most fiercely contested elections in the history of the trade union of movie actors.
Actress Shweta Menon has been elected president and Kuku Parameswaran general secretary of 506 member-strong AMMA, in the elections which concluded at lpm on Friday.
While Shweta trounced actor-turned-BJP leader Devan and Kuku clinched over veteran actor Raveendran in another close fight.
