Sleuths close in on Vijayan’s daughter, court orders summons

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan is in more trouble, with a court in Kochi assigned for the trial of financial crimes issuing a summons to his daughter Veena Thaikkandiyil.

On Friday, Additional District and Sessions Judge VPM Suresh Babu ruled that a report filed by the Serious Fraud Investigation Organisation will be treated as a police report.

The SFIO found that she accepted Rs 27 million from a public limited company and its subsidiary for services never rendered.

“Though it is filed as a complaint, in view of the statutory provision under the Companies Act, the complaint is to be treated as a police,” his order said.

“On going through the report, materials and documents, I find that there is sufficient material to take cognizance of offence and issue process against all accused.”
