Man ordered to pay Dhs156,395 over bank fraud

Abu Dhabi Family, Civil and Administrative Cases Court obligated a man to pay Dhs156,395 to another for getting him into debt after he asked him to open accounts with a bank based on their friendship.

Earlier, a man filed a lawsuit against two defendants in which he requested the court to appoint a technical expert and obligate them jointly and severally to pay him Dhs156,395 plus a 9 per cent legal interest from the date of the claim until full payment and the incurred fees and expenses.

He filed his lawsuit after one of the defendants, who was his friend, asked for his help in opening a bank account with a bank by taking his personal information registering his email and phone number for this purpose, he said.

After the account had been opened, the defendant told him that he would use the account temporarily until approval to open his own account was obtained, he added, noting that in the event of any requirements, he would be the one to fulfil them to the bank.
