ROME: Italy's unemployment rate fell to 5.9 per cent in February from 6.2 per cent the month before, hitting its lowest level since April 2007 in a boost for Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, data showed.

A Reuters survey of Il analysts had forecast a February jobless rate of 6.3 per cent, stable at the previously reported level for January.
