Dubai court jails man for electronic fraud

The Misdemeanour Court in Dubai jailed an Asian after convicting him of possessing Dhs2,000 obtained by electronic fraud through a fake advertisement for an apartment for rent on Facebook.
The details of the case date back to March 2025 when an Asian national filed a report stating that he had been defrauded after seeing an advertisement on Facebook for an apartment for rent.
He added that he contacted the advertiser and transferred Dhs2,000 as a reservation deposit.
The complainant stated that the suspect received Dhs2,000 after meeting him and showing him an apartment for rent in Al Satwa area.
