Centre wants to see Kerala's destruction: Vijayan

In a scathing attack on the Union government, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Monday accused central government of wanting to see the 'destruction' of the southern state and adopting a negative approach towards its efforts to survive during times of crises.

The chief minister pointed out that the state had to face several challenges in recent times including the worst flood of the century and the Wayanad landslide tragedy that claimed hundreds of lives besides causing losses running into millions of Rupees.

"Unfortunately, the Centre, which has the responsibility to support the state and help it to survive, has provided no assistance at any stage," Vijayan said. He was inaugurating the fourth anniversary celebrations of the second term of the Left Democratic Front (LDF) government at Kalikkadavu near Kasaragod on Monday.
