COLCHESTER'S COWLEY REFLECTS ON THE BATTLE WITH GRIMSBY

- By SAM ALLEN

COLCHESTER United boss Danny Cowley felt Saturday's clash at Blundell Park descended into a rugby match as his team battled to a 2-1 victory over Grimsby Town.

His comment was in relation to the referee's handling of the game and what he allowed both teams to get away with, as it became a physical battle between the two sides.

That worked in the visitors' favour in the end, with the Mariners going away from what has made them one of the teams to look out for in the promotion race to hand Colchester only their third league victory this term.

The U's boss still called for more intervention from officials based on what he saw in Saturday's game, feeling both teams were unnecessarily physical at times, in part due to the loose foul-calling.
