HEAD COACH REFLECTS ON TOWN'S SNAPPING OF NINE-GAME WINLESS RUN

- By SAM ALLEN

I always felt we were on the right track, says boss Artell

Justin Amaluzor marks his winning goal against Shrewsbury Jon Corken

THE new year is about getting back on track for Grimsby Town as they ended a forgettable final two months of 2025 with a much-needed victory.

Head coach David Artell has maintained that the Mariners train never came off the track, at least on a performance basis, despite watching his team fall down the League Two table with a nine-match winless run.

A scrappy 1-0 home win over Shrewsbury Town restored some positive feeling ahead of some tough away assignments to start the new year at Fleetwood Town and Cambridge United, with Grimsby needing to put a run together to catch back up with the top seven.

Just like Town have risen and fallen in the space of one half of a season, they can charge back up the table again in a division where it truly is anyone's to take by the horns if they can find some consistency.
