Decision has 'blocked' affordable housing city is 'crying out for'

>> THE decision to reject plans for 172 social homes in Gloucester has been met with huge disappointment by the city's MP and opposition groups.

While developers said the £45m Podsmead Estate would lead to improved community amenities in a thriving, sustainable neighbourhood, the Gloucester City Homes proposal was voted down by the council's planning committee.
This decision was met with disappointment by MP Alex Mcintyre along with fellow Labour councillors.
“The planning committee's decision to refuse approval for the regeneration of Podsmead is therefore incredibly disappointing,” Mr Mcintyre and the Labour City Council group said in a joint statement. “Gloucester is crying out for more affordable housing with 5,000 families on the council waiting list.
