According to astrology, the deity of the Chaturdashi Tithi is Lord Shiva Himself.

Every month, the Chaturdashi Tithi of the Krishna Paksha is observed as the Masik Shivratri.

Jyotishacharya Mahant Rohit Shastri, President of Shri Kailakh Jyotish avim Vedic Sansthan Trust, stated that this year, the Jyeshtha Masik Shivratri will be observed on Sunday, 25 May.

The Chaturdashi Tithi will begin at 3:52 PM on 25 May and end at 12:12 PM on Monday, 26 May. The special night worship time for Shivratri will be from 11:58 PM to 12:38 AM on 25 May.

From early morning on this day, devotees begin to gather at Shiva temples. Devotees observing the fast perform ritualistic worship by offering holy Ganga water, milk, curd, ghee, honey, flowers, bilva leaves, incense, lamps, naivedya (food offering), sandalwood paste, seasonal fruits, ak and dhatura flowers, rice, etc., on the Shivling.

By performing Rudrabhishek, reciting the Shiva Purana, listening to Shiva stories, chanting Shiva hymns, and the mantra "Om Namah Shivaya" throughout the night, one attains the equivalent merit of performing an Ashwamedha Yajna and may attain salvation (moksha).
