A new study has shed light on the potential benefits of the Mediterranean diet and taking omega-3 fatty acid supplements for people who are suffering from mild to moderate acne.
Acne is a common skin condition characterised by the presence of pimples, blackheads, and cysts. It occurs when hair follicles become clogged with oil and dead skin cells, leading to inflammation and sometimes bacterial infection.Published in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology, the study, which included 60 participants, demonstrated that these dietary changes led to significant reductions in both inflammatory and non-inflammatory skin lesions.Participants also reported an improved quality of life, showcasing the potential holistic benefits of these dietary interventions.
