Disappointment in council's decision

Frome Standard

Frome Town AFC's board have issued a statement following the Extraordinary General Meeting to consider a proposal to lease Badgers Hill to a private operator on Thursday.

As reported on page 2 of today’s Frome Standard, the town council has rejected the plan, but has opened the door for more proposals to follow.

In response, Frome Town AFC said: “After Thursday's Extraordinary General Meeting to consider a proposal to lease Badgers Hill to a private operator, the Board are disappointed that the current proposal was found not to meet the legal criteria for best consideration.

“Though the Board understand and respect the Frome Town Council’s concerns, we would like to reiterate that the motives behind the proposal have always been focused on benefitting the community, not solely football in the town.

“Given councillors wanted to see more detail and clarity on community engagement, the Board would like to reassure all supporters of the club and residents in Frome that we have been in contact with the private operator for several months and firmly believe that their involvement in Frome will be of significant benefit to the town.
