The centenary celebrations of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in New Delhi were not just a commemoration of a movement that began in 1925, but also a reflection on how one of its pracharaks rose to become the Prime Minister of India and, over time, one of the most visible world leaders.

Narendra Modi's presence at the event, and his address, underscored how deeply intertwined his personal journey has been with that of the Sangh.

From his early years in the RSS as a full-time pracharak, Modi imbibed the discipline of daily shakhas, the emphasis on character-building, and the philosophy of subordinating the self to the nation. That training, many within the Sangh argue, shaped the qualities of endurance, organisation, and ideological clarity that later defined his political career.
