THE UNION CABINET is expected to take up the India-Oman free trade agreement for consideration on Friday after the lower house of the Omani parliament approved its draft.

The agreement is expected to be formally announced and signed during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Oman on December 17 to December 18.The Shura Council discussed the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) with India on Wednesday and gave its approval.

Modi will be visiting Oman as part of his three-nation visit from December 16 to 18.

He will first visit Jordan and then Ethiopia before landing in Oman.
