"THIS (LOWER TRADE deficit in May) is expected to limit the widening in the current account deficit (CAD) print for April-June to around $13 billion (1.3% of GDP). If crude oil prices average around $75 per barrel over the remainder of this fiscal, we foresee the CAD at 1.2-1.3% of GDP for FY26," said Icra chief economist Aditi Nayar.

"Despite the global policy uncertainty regarding trade, ongoing conflicts, we have done extremely well (during the April-May period). If you look at the global picture...we are doing much better than the global average," commerce secretary Sunil Barthwal told reporters.
