Govt rolls out ₹24K-cr agri push

Cabinet clears merger of 36 schemes to boost farm yield

The Cabinet on Wednesday approved the Prime Minister Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana (PMDDKY), a six-year scheme aimed at boosting agricultural productivity and farmers' income across 100 districts, with an annual outlay of ₹24,000 crore.

Starting from the current fiscal year, the scheme is expected to benefit around 17 million farmers.

The scheme, to be implemented through a convergence model, will draw financial allocations from 36 existing schemes across 11 ministries, including agriculture, food, animal husbandry, dairying, fisheries, finance, rural development, cooperation, and irrigation.
