Yield rises for third session

GOVERNMENT BONDS ENDED lower for a third consecutive session on Tuesday, as weak demand for state debt at an auction weighed on the overall market sentiment, negating gains made earlier in the day due to value purchases.
The yield on the benchmark 10-year bond ended at 6.2946%, the highest since May 10, compared with its previous close of 6.2837%.
The yield on five-year 6.75% 2029 bond ended at 5.9513% after closing 5.8842% on Monday. Yields move inversely to prices. "There is hardly any hope for longer-duration bonds in the immediate near term and selling pressure may persist," a treasury official said.
