Monsoon makes fast progress after early onset

FOLLOWING AN EARLY onset of the southwest monsoon over Kerala and parts of southern India, conditions are now favourable for its further advance into more areas of Maharashtra, southern India, and the northeastern states, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Sunday.
According to IMD, the monsoon has already progressed over parts of Karnataka, Goa, Maharashtra, and the northeastern states of Mizoram, Manipur, and Nagaland.
"Heavy rainfalls is likely to continue over Kerala, Karnataka, coastal Maharashtra, and Goa over the next seven days," the IMD stated.
