Tories rally round premier after call for new leadership by Right-winger

RISHI SUNAK moved today to crush an attempt to trigger a coup to oust him.
A government minister bluntly declared there would be no leadership challenge despite ex-cabinet minister Sir Simon Clarke calling for Mr Sunak, inset, to be replaced.
"There will be no new leadership election," postal affairs minister Kevin Hollinrake told BBC radio in what appeared to be part of moves to torpedo any possible momentum for a revolt. Senior Tory MPs lined up to condemn Sir Simon's move against the Prime Minister and to reject his argument that the party risked an election "massacre" if it keeps Mr Sunak at the helm.
Home Secretary James Cleverly said it would be "foolish" to have further dissent within the party. But former levelling up secretary Sir Simon was encouraging other MPs to follow his lead.
