Stand by Ukraine, UK tells Trump allies ahead of key Munich security summit

BRITAIN’S Foreign and Defence secretaries headed to the high-powered Munich Security Conference today urging allies of Donald Trump to stand by Ukraine after threats to transatlantic unity from the former president.
Grant Shapps said this morning that upholding unity for Ukraine was “directly in their benefit, no matter which parts of it they are, Republican or Democrat”.
The Defence Secretary told Sky News that “autocrats all over the world look at what’s happening, what Putin’s done” and would conclude that they can threaten other countries “just by boring the West into submission”.
He and Lord Cameron were leading the UK delegation at the weekend summit in Germany, dubbed “Davos with guns”, after the Foreign Secretary got embroiled in a row with some of Mr Trump’s supporters in the US Congress over funding for Ukraine.
