Pupils explore outdoor careers at Multiverse event

In a first for the region, more than 200 young people, teachers, partners and employers gathered at Dumfriesshire's Crawick Multiverse for an amazing learning adventure.

Built on a former coalmine, near Sanquhar, this 55-acre cosmology-themed land art installation attracts visitors from around the world. Employing local staff and hosting festivals and events, Crawick boosts the local economy while providing a unique cultural and educational experience.

And it proved the perfect setting for secondary school pupils from both Dumfries and Galloway, and Ayrshire, to get an insight into outdoor careers and rural skills.

Organised by DYW Dumfries and Galloway and DYW Ayrshire, in partnership with Crawick Multiverse, 12 organisations were there to provide short interactive workshops, covering everything from agriculture and food to energy, rural skills, conservation and forestry.
