From her job as a teaching assistant at Hecklegirth Primary School to quenching thirsts at Galabank and providing a helping hand at the Annan ROM, Annan undoubtedly owes a lot to community-minded Mary Hamilton.

And in recognition of her drive to help the Dumfriesshire town and its people, she’s been presented with a special lieutenancy card from King Charles and Queen Camilla.
Hardip Atwal, Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Dumfriesshire, said he was “honoured” to present the formal recognition of her commitment to the town, to the 63-year-old who recently called time as bar manager at Annan Athletic Football Club.
