Green light for leisure centre
Dover Express
|October 09, 2025
A BRAND new state-of-the-art leisure centre is officially set to be built in Deal after Dover District Council's cabinet gave the final go-ahead for the multi-million-pound project.
-
The decision clears the way for construction to begin on the new £20m facility, which will replace the ageing Tides Leisure Centre pool building.
Demolition of the old pool building began on Monday, following the removal of the adjacent former nursery last week. The Tides Leisure Pool, which has served the community since the 1980s, was permanently closed on March 16, 2025, after reaching the end of its operational life.
