THE SUZUKI Griquas are bracing for a monumental clash against the unbeaten Airlink Pumas in Saturday's SA Cup final in Mbombela - a rematch that's as much about redemption as it is about silverware.

SEMI-FINAL THRILLER

The Griquas booked their spot with a thrilling 41-38 semi-final victory over the Toyota Cheetahs in Kimberley last weekend - a contest described by fans as “electric” and “rugby theatre at its best.”

Captain George Whitehead’s late long-range penalty sealed the result in a game that swung dramatically from end to end.

Griquas clawed back from a 12-3 deficit, matched the Cheetahs try-for-try, and kept their composure when it mattered most.

"It was an incredible effort from the team," said Griquas head coach Pieter Bergh. "To go into a final with the same 23-man squad after two physical games is something quite special - it might even be a first for us this season."

But for Bergh, the semi-final victory was only a stepping stone.

"We've acknowledged the achievement of reaching a final - that alone is something to be proud of. But this team wants to win silverware. That's the goal."
