Urgent warning to parents as web link leads to adult site

LINK IN BACK OF CHILDREN'S BOOK SERIES HAS BEEN HIJACKED
SCHOOLS are sending urgent warnings to parents after it was discovered that several titles in a popular children's book series by a Derby author contained a link that was hijacked to send readers to pornographic material - not information about the books as intended.
The “compromised” links are in the very popular Spy Dog, Spy Pup and Spy Cat series by award-winning Andrew Cope, which have sold in excess of 300,000 copies in the UK alone.
The first book was published by Puffin in 2005 and the final one in 2016 - they are aimed at children aged seven to 12.
A link in the back pages of the books encourages people to find out more about the books’ characters but, since the web domain expired and was taken over by someone else, it now unintentionally leads to a pornographic website.
