Derby Telegraph
|August 05, 2025
A DERBYSHIRE primary school set in a building dating back more than 100 years is now at the forefront of the latest technology.
-
Howitt Primary Community School, founded by Victorians Mary and William Howitt and housed in an early 20th century building, is now one of the most advanced after being kitted out with the latest technology by L.E.A.D. IT Services.
Part of the Embark Federation, Howitt Primary, in Heanor, is one of the trust's latest schools to benefit from completely new technology including interactive Smartboards whose features allow teachers to store lessons, along with information, interactive games and the latest resources helping children get the most out of their learning.
The technology installed by L.E.A.D. IT has also included a new WiFi system, with BT also completing upgrades in the area, meaning the school now has a reliable high-speed internet connection for the first time.
Teachers all have new laptops along with devices for pupils learning with special educational needs.
