PRINCESS ANNE VISITS CITY TO MEET FORMER RETAIL WORKERS
A QUIET corner of Derby became the scene of a royal visit with a surprise appearance from the Princess Royal.
The late Queen's only daughter visited the Retail Trust's Leylands Estate, near Darley Abbey, marking 70 years since it was first opened by Queen Elizabeth II in 1955.
Following her visit, Derby locals gathered in Oakwood Park were given a surprise when the Princess's security detail escorted her to a helicopter parked in the middle of the field on Monday afternoon, where it departed a short time later.
Her visit comes after she was named as patron of the Retail Trust charity earlier this year, which has cared for and protected those working in the sector since 1832.
